Brand Voice
Voice, tone, and writing guidance for the GradRight brand.
GradRight should sound like a sharp, practical co-pilot — sitting beside the student, not talking down from a stage.
We explain hard decisions simply. We respect ambition. We never sell fear, fog, or false urgency.
Voice principles
Clear first
Say the thing. Then add context if it helps. Prefer one strong sentence over three soft ones.
Prefer: Loan approval in 20 minutes — 15+ lenders bid for your profile.
Avoid: Experience a seamless, end-to-end financing journey tailored to your unique aspirations.
Human
Write like you would explain it to a teammate or a sibling preparing for their first admit. Warmth is welcome; performance jargon is not.
Confident, not loud
We do not hype. We do not hedge everything either. State what GradRight does, what it costs students (free), and what outcome they can expect.
Useful
Every paragraph should help someone do or decide something — shortlist, apply, compare, refinance, or ask for help.
Student-first
Merit is the currency. Never imply that access depends on knowing the “right” consultant. Put power back in the student’s hands.
Personality traits
| Trait | In practice |
|---|---|
| Co-pilot | We stay with them from first form to final approval |
| Transparent | Costs, timelines, and trade-offs are explicit |
| Data-backed | Claims point to outcomes, not vibes |
| Optimistic | Higher education is possible — complexity is navigable |
| Grounded | Numbers, countries, and products stay concrete |
Tone by moment
Default tone is calm and direct. Shift slightly by context — never abandon clarity.
| Context | Tone | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Homepage / brand | Confident, inviting | Your AI co-pilot for higher education |
| Product UI | Precise, short | Create your shortlist |
| Errors / empty states | Steady, helpful | We could not load lenders. Try again or talk to us. |
| Success | Warm, brief | Shortlist ready — review matches and next steps |
| Support | Empathetic, practical | Here is what to upload and what happens next |
| Social | Conversational, useful | Lowkey the only feed you need — still lead with value |
| Compliance / legal | Plain, exact | No student fees for GradRight platform services |
Words we use
Prefer language that matches how GradRight shows up on gradright.com.
| Prefer | Instead of |
|---|---|
| Co-pilot / Graddie | Guru, counsellor-as-gatekeeper |
| Shortlist | Dream list, wishlist (when we mean ranked fit) |
| Education loan / financing | Soft funding jargon without meaning |
| Free for students | Freemium, “no cost*” with buried caveats |
| Return on education | Vague “ROI” without explanation |
| Transparency | Disruption theatre |
| Apply / explore / shortlist | Learn more (when a concrete action exists) |
Words and patterns to avoid
- Commission-coded consulting language (“guaranteed admit,” “exclusive seats,” “package deals”).
- Fear marketing (“miss this intake forever,” “everyone else already applied”).
- Empty superlatives (“world-class synergy,” “revolutionary ecosystem”) without a fact behind them.
- Blaming the student for a complex process we are meant to simplify.
- Fake urgency that is not tied to a real deadline.
Voice in action
Brand
Technology that thinks, people who care — giving you the confidence to pursue higher education anywhere in the world.
Product
Get a relevant shortlist that fits your profile, with higher admit chances and better returns on education.
Differentiation
Most consultants act like travel agents — they sell a destination based on commission. GradRight helps you choose the right country, university, program, and financing options.
Promise
Merit should be the only currency that matters.
Writing checklist
- Can a student act after reading this once?
- Is the claim specific enough to verify?
- Does it sound like a co-pilot — or like a brochure?
- Did we remove jargon a first-generation applicant would not know?
- Are we clear that GradRight is free for students where that is true?
When in doubt, read the line out loud. If you would not say it to a student on a call, do not publish it.
